Target Haul: October 2013

You may have seen this pic on my Instagram @elleohelle86 or my Facebook page! MissGlamBam- formerly Elleoenigma
This haul is actually from the weekend before Halloween, so some items are H-ween-related, while most of them aren't! Sorry this is up late- I'll have a blog haul from this month up shortly as well! I love me some Tarjay (:
Aerial view of my haul!

Skull Mug- $1 First off was the dollar section- who can resist? It was all festive and I had a big blast wheeling myself around in my wheelchair through these aisles! I got this little skull cup/mug- I thought it was so cute, and I can never have enough things to drink out of! Idk if I'd brew coffee right into this since it's plastic, but it would definitely be a good glass to put juice in with some ice or something. They also had goblets identical to this, but my mug looked like it would hold more!

Mamba Fruit Chews, $? These were in the bargain section, but I'm not sure of the price. Probably only a dollar or two! I'd just seen a post on Instagram with a haul someone had done of a bunch of Asian candy, which this looked like it fell into the category of, so I had to pick these up because they were talking to my sweet tooth. Rare candy is a must for me!

AirHeads Xtremes Candy Belts, $? These were also in the bargain category, and like Mamba, I'm not sure of the price. I LOVE LOVE LOVE candy belts like this, and I found these over the summer and have since been obsessed and craving them. They went into the basket without a second thought.

Hello Panda Candy Crackers, $1? I'm pretty sure these were $1, since they were in the dollar section (although Target has been sneaky lately and putting things in there that are $3 or some weird number in between....humph!) These are so yummy, I remember my friends in middle school used to come back from visiting their home countries in Singapore or China, and would bring these back and I would fall in love with them instantly. Between the cute little panda faces and the fact that they melt in your mouth, I couldn't pass these up, especially being on an Asian/rare candy kick!

Frankenstein Sticky Notes, $1 These were definitely a dollar, which is pretty good for sticky notes these days! They are just starting to charge an arm and a leg for those suckers. Anyways, I am a sucker for cute sticky notes, and needed some normal square ones, because my current ones are round and don't stick to anything. Plus I loved his "Why did I get out of bed this morning" facial expression, because that's me everyday. Haha just kidding. Or am I?

Sterilite Medium-Sized Trash Can, $8 This is a terrible picture because the garbage can practically blends into the chair, but this sucker is the entire reason I wanted to go to Target! Actually, it was only half the reason, but they didn't have the other thing I wanted. Grrr! Anyways, I needed a large and second trash can, since my little zebra one (it's in my College Dorm Haul that you can watch here- )

doesn't fit much trash and I found myself needing to take it out twice a day! I currently use the smaller one for bottle recycling, and my new bigger trash can works much better for me (:

Coffee Cup Wall Decals, ~$14 These were probably the most expensive things I bought haha. They fit into my wall theme more than PERFECTLY, and looked really easy to apply! There's so many of them that I can arrange all the cute little cups however I'd like. Why can't I figure out how to get these pictures side by side!? Anyways, I was so super excited to find these! They're perfect for my room, and I've never seen them at Target before, which is saying something since I've practically memorized the wall decal section!

6-Pack of Vanilla Almond Luna Bars, ~$7 This is a brand new flavor! I'm utterly obsessed with Luna bars and have one for breakfast practically every single day while I'm in class, so these were a must! This flavor sounded delicious!

Peanut Honey Pretzel Luna Bar, ~$1.50 This was another new flavor that sounded wonderful! I decided to try just one of these instead of buying an entire box though, but I did want to try it so I picked up a single bar instead (:

Up & Up Adults' Gummy Calcium Dietary Supplement, $? I always take calcium gummies, and mine were out, so my mom insisted I get these to replace them. They're actually delicious and I like every flavor in this bottle, which is unusual because there's usually at least one flavor I can't stand and feed to Miranda in order to get rid of them. Hehe.

Revlon Ultimate Tweezers, ~$8 These were another thing I needed- I lost my favorite Revlon tweezers during move-in and haven't been able to find them since!!! Argh! I'm the kind of person who touches up their eyebrows practically every other day, this just would not do any longer, so I picked up some new ones, even though I had a pretty deep-rooted relationship with my long lost pair of tweezers. Also, I found out that tweezers are getting dang expensive these days- why are Tweezerman's $24?!!?!? I hate slanted tweezers and think they're impossible to use, so these are what I picked up!

Up & Up 100 Pack of Cotton Rounds, $2 My cotton rounds were all out, and I use them on the daily for stubborn eye makeup removal and for my cleanser, so I needed a new pack before I went crazy. These were a lot cheaper than the $4 ones I usually dread getting at CVS, and are a lot thicker too. Target is my new place to get cotton rounds! Take note, ladies.

St. Ives Blemish Control Green Tea Scrub (Full Size Tube), ~$5 This is my personal favorite product in this haul, and sorry that the picture is somewhat blurry! I'm not sure what happened there. I talk more about this in my October Favorites video, which should be up later this week, since I just exported it yesterday! Yay! This stuff really works, and previously I had only owned the sample size which is almost out, and it did such great things that I NEEDED the full size!

So that concludes my first ever blog haul! I do lots on my channel, so check out MissGlamBam.com if you're in need of more shoppaholic-ism. Do you like the idea of me doing blog hauls? Let me know because I have at least one more to share as of right now!

Belated Thirsty Thursday: K-cup of the Week

Before I begin, let me just say sorry for having this post be belated! I had all these Halloween-themed posts I was thinking of doing, but none of them happened because it took me forever to get into my costume (well, the thigh high socks and leggings mostly) with me being in a wheelchair. That being said, I also didn't want to post this too late last night while everyone was out, so I figured I'd just put it up today. Monday's still a thirsty day, right? (at least around here it is....yeesh) **NOTE: Okay....so this was supposed to go up Thursday, I wrote most of it on Friday, and then forgot about it over the weekend, so it's actually a Thirsty Monday. Sorry!!! I've been aching to blog all day though, so let's get on with it.**

Also, this week's "K-cup of the Week" is more like a K-cup of the Day / my Halloween cup of joe. I realized that between last Thursday and yesterday, I'd only spent two nights on campus. TWO! And I'm supposed to be living here full time...HA! That was mostly because I've been all over the place getting specialists to look at my foot/ankle and getting MRIs. So, needless to say, I haven't been around my Keurig baby enough to have been using a huge variety of K-cups.

Miranda recently bought the Dunkin Donuts Peppermint Mocha coffee K-cups, and thought yesterday morning would be a good time to try them out. I made some for both of us, and with the two of us dancing around in our pajamas with matching coffees, I felt like we were in a Clean & Clear Morning Burst commercial lol. I picked out my most Halloween-y mug, my Wicked Witch of the West mug, and we used some International Delight French Vanilla creamer, the powdered kind. It was actually a really good combination. I was a little afraid the peppermint would make the vanilla curdle or something, but it was 100% fine and 100% delish.

So this is my fave coffee combo of the week, even though it's kind of cheating to say that since I only had it once. I actually haven't used my Keurig since Halloween, but next time I do I'll have to try this one out again! It's really good and not so peppermint-y that you feel like you skipped right over Thanksgiving and are in holly jolly holidays mode!

Hope you all had a great Halloween- I'll have to post some pictures in a later post this week! Some of them came out pretty cute!

My First Semester of College is Cursed!

Guys.

I'm pretty sure that when I hobble by people I'm sorta friendly with on campus, and they see me on crutches, they're convinced that I'm my own personal bad luck charm. Especially if they've been keeping up with the saga that is the story of my first semester of college.

I don't like blogging about such downer topics, but then I saw a Tuesday Troubles post on RamblingsofASuburbanMom.com, and realized that it's a thing and that I'm totally allowed to do it. Also, I love her, and if you haven't started reading her blog yet... DO IT. (She doesn't know I'm saying this btw...I actually highly doubt she knows I exist)
*PLUS it's Halloween week, so I'm allowed to talk about curses and have people actually believe me...right?

Anyways.

Maybe I wouldn't have this belief if I didn't already know my building is haunted. My RA lived in the same building I live in now her freshman year, so she's been telling us from the start that the building is haunted as can be. Apparently a girl hung herself in the closet of one of the rooms awhile back, either mine or the one next to me, although after recent events I'm pretty convinced it's my room. As gory as it sounds, I'm still trying to figure out how she hung herself in a closet that size....was she a midget?

The first month of college was great. My roommates and I were best friends and everyone was jealous. We had a few great friends that we always hung out with who were practically honorary roommates (this is still true to an extent, we still have a few of those, THANK GOODNESS,) and our building was full of super friendly people that we got along great with. Then shit started going down.

There was a giant roommate fiasco and one of my roommates moved out. My other roommate and I had the room to ourselves for a few weeks, and it was like a giant sleepover! Then one night I had a rapid heartbeat and a fever of 102, so I called Public Safety and they told me to take a cab to the ER. It turns out I had a kidney infection, and went all the way back home and had to stay there for a week and a half. When I got back, my new roommate moved in and we love her, so no complaints there (once again...THANK GOODNESS!) I was super behind in schoolwork. Then there was a conflict between one of my roommates and the girls on my floor, which resulted in me having to host an intervention with some of my friends, which was super awk and made some people really upset (it's okay now though).

Now, the icing on the cake: literally the day after the intervention, I was running downstairs in my socks to the bathroom, because the one on my floor AND the floor below me were both occupied by strange people who shower at 11 pm on a Tuesday (seriously, WTF), and I had to pee like you wouldn't believe. Then all of a sudden, I slipped when I was ALMOST TO THE BATHROOM, SO CLOSE I COULD TASTE IT (err...smell it?) and that's when I slipped, and my foot felt like it folded in half.
Visual representation of my foot folding in half
I was limping to all of my classes the next day and it hurt like a bitch, so one of my friends finally told me to go to Health Services and gave me a piggy back ride there (hehe, love you R). They said it was probably sprained but could be broken, since my foot was huge and swollen and had yellow bruising all over it. They recommended going to get X-rays, so I went to a walk-in clinic a couple hours later (more like the Walk-In Shitshow....ugh don't get me started!!!!) They took X-rays and had horrible customer service and told me nothing was broken. Also, neither place had crutches, so I had to hobble into CVS myself with a potentially broken foot (they took X-rays less than 24 hours after the damage was done, so it was really too swollen to be able to see a break if there was one), and had to pay $45 out of pocket for some crutches that didn't even have numbers on the notches- you know how they're normally labeled by height? Yeah, not these. And insurance doesn't cover them, so it was a pretty penny.

So for the rest of that week and all of yesterday, I was crutching around campus and destroying my armpits and hopping up the stairs in my building like an exhausted little bunny. Then my mom booked me an appt with her foot doctor back home, so I got picked up and had my appointment just a few hours ago. They took some more X-rays, except this time they wanted me to put weight on my foot while they were taking them...um, no thanks, since I can't and all? Isn't that the reason I'm HERE?! Geeeze.... anyways, the doctor noticed that I can't bend my ankle or foot or move anything in that general area at all (which I hadn't even noticed up until that point. I'm clearly an observant child....nawt) SO she scheduled me some MRIs for late tonight (to see if I tore any ligaments or tendons or other yucky stuff).

I'm supposed to stay home, off of campus, for a few days to get my test results and see if I need physical therapy or anything. Plus I have exams for the next 3 days, and all of my books and notes are on campus...not here, where I am. Plus my boyfriend's working tonight so he can't come visit and make me feel better. Plus there's a huge Halloween celebration going on tomorrow night at school that I may/may not be able to go to. Plus my roommate's birthday is Monday and I don't want to be a jerk and miss whatever we're doing to celebrate. Plus Youtube has been giving me problems with copyrights on my videos all week, for videos where there's no music and it's literally just me talking...WTF. Who knows if I'll even be back for Halloween? ARGGHH!

The ghost just wants to ruin my life. I must have pissed her off early in the semester. I really have no other explanation for all of the shit that's happened to me lately....and yet I'm still not a college dropout. Amazing, eh?

If your Tuesday Troubles are more horrible than mine, please let me know cause that would sure make me feel better. I'll probably be making a beauty video live on my channel in an hour or so, and if you commented that would also cheer me up. I'm so worried about my grades right now that it's not even funny. DAMN YOU GHOST!

Do you believe in curses?

Thanks for reading & Happy Early Halloween!

Movie Review: Carrie

*Warning- if you haven't seen the original, there are some mild spoiler alerts!*

Hi all!

My friends dragged me out to the movies to see the new film "Carrie" last night, and let's just say, I'm a little freaked out to be even in my own room alone...okay, maybe it's not that bad, but I'm definitely still mentally disturbed....actually, that's a good way to explain this movie, mentally disturbing.

There's an earlier, original version of this movie, which my friends had seen and that's why they wanted to see this movie in particular, despite the fact that I was spewing threats at them at a mile a minute if they made me see a scary movie....which they kind of did.

It stars the always beautiful Julianne Moore as a hyper-religious, self-blaming mother of the character Carrie, who is played by the up-and-coming Chloe Grace Moretz. I have been seeing this girl EVERYWHERE lately, from Kickass 2 commercials to the walls at Aeropostale. Since she's a newer and younger actor, I wasn't expecting much from her performance, but for such a challenging, multi-faceted, and effed-up role as this was, she really blew me away. She goes from a huddled over, self-conscious girl to the chick that blows up the entire town (I don't feel bad for giving mild spoiler alerts because I feel like a lot of people have already seen the original).

This movie is about a girl who gets teased miserably in school, and has special "powers" that have been passed down from her grandmother. She learns that her powers are telekinetic, and reads up about it so she can learn to control and use them to protect her from her abusive mother and her tormentors at school. It's the ultimate revenge story, and the ending is really....satisfying. If you're the kind of person that really likes a good ending and can't stand crappy ones, then this would be a movie for you.

The movie isn't gory for the first 2/3 of it, but after the pig is brutally murdered (one of my least favorite parts in the movie!) it just gets more and more gory from there. For someone who really really hates horror movies such as myself, it really wasn't TOO bad. There were just a few scenes that I thought were a little more graphic and violent than they needed to be, and those ones are the images that are still stuck in my mind and haunting me a little bit. If you like scary movies and don't mind blood and a teeny bit of gore, then you would have absolutely no problem with this movie- none of my friends did...awk.

Overall, I would give this movie an 8/10. It had a great plot, the performances were great from all of the lead actresses- including Gabriella Wilde (Sue- my personal favorite character), and the always super bitchy to the point where I wanted to punch her a lot during this movie, Portia Doubleday (who plays Chris, and is blonde in her imdb pictures?! WTF? Much better, since the contrast of her bright eyes and pale lips against her practically black hair in the movie bothered me every time she was on screen. )

The story really kept me on edge and had a million plot turns in my opinion- wasn't too predictable, and the way the ending went down was very violently creative. If you like scary movies, I'd say go for it! It's creepy but has character and a soul and a story, versus the usual straight-up blood and gore. You really get attached to the characters, even the ones you don't like. If you're like me and can do mildly scary but not so much the blood, I'd say give it a try because it's really thought-provoking and will stay in your head in both good and bad ways, but definitely bring someone with you whose hand you can squeeze, whose shoulder you can hide behind and cry on afterwards, and whose lap you can jump into at times.

On a side note, since the inner beauty guru in me wants to point it out, Chloe looked absolutely GORGEOUS with her strawberry blonde wavy hair in this movie, especially when it was curled, paired with light makeup, and a blush pink colored prom dress in the scene where she gets all dolled up. I've been obsessing over that look ever since!

Hope this helped you guys- will you be seeing this movie or if you've seen it already, how'd you like it? Would you agree with my rating?
